Imrana Mahmood Creative Artist Visit

It was an honour, privilege and pleasure to welcome the Creative Producer and Arts Educationalist Imrana Mahmood to Denbigh High School. Imrana was invited to facilitate a creative writing workshop with our year 11 students and also cut the ribbon for the grand opening for our amazing Library Reading Room.

For me, the English Creative Writing workshop was a great experience as I had to start off the workshop by writing about a picture using whatever came to mind, which allowed me to think creatively and to go with the flow while writing the creative piece. I also found the workshop quite interesting as I heard a poem which was no only beautiful, but also raised awareness about serious topics people have to deal with everyday. Overall, this workshop to me was an entertaining, helpful and motivating experience and has helped me develop my creative thinking and writing skills a great deal. - Eliza Year 11

The workshop undoubtedly helped our entire class with creative writing - the first writing task was challenging and had most of the class struggling to write. However, after the session, we learned indispensable skills that would now allow us to complete similar tasks with ease. Furthermore, the poetry section developed my communication skills and we all found it very interesting. Our entire class enjoyed the amazing session and we would highly recommend other years to participate in it. -   Abid Year 11

We are excited to announce the new Reading Room, which officially opened with a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday 1st February, by Imrana Mahmood a Creative Artist. students that attended the opening event watched the ribbon being cut and then were able to access this fantastic space designed to create a relaxing reading environment.
