This is to announce that the governing body of Denbigh High School met on Wednesday 17 June 2009 to consider responses received in the statutory representation period.
There were no responses during this period.
Governors welcome the opportunity foundation status offers to have a greater say in the strategic direction and development of the school and are committed to involving parents and the community in the life of the school. After discussion a vote was taken and the unanimous decision made to become a foundation school on 1 September 2009 when the school will be known as Denbigh High School Foundation School.
There will be some changes to the composition of the governing body as a new category of governor is introduced and other categories have fewer or more places. Below is some information about the new governing body.
The governing body shall consist of:
6 parent governors
2 LA governors
3 staff governors
3 community governors
3 partnership governors
Existing governors who wish to serve on the foundation school governing body have the right to complete their current term of office where this is possible under the new constitution.
The governors and school community see the change to a foundation school as an opportunity to bring a fresh impetus to the schools drive to raise standards in the new educational environment of greater autonomy and redefined role for the local authority. We are determined that such a change will have a beneficial impact on the standards in the school and the opportunities we are able to offer to our pupils.
