Farewell from Dame Yasmin

19 December 2014

Dear Parents/ Carers and Students,

I have been overwhelmed by the good wishes and kind comments you have expressed since I formally announced that I would be retiring at the end of this term.

I came to Denbigh High School in September 1991 when I was looking for a school which had the capacity to rise to the challenge of continual growth and development. I was delighted to be appointed headteacher because I could see that Denbigh certainly had the potential to do this.

The twenty three years and one term since I arrived have flown past and our school has gone from strength to strength. This is because we have all worked tirelessly together to make our school excellent in every respect and taken great pride in always doing everything as well as we can. Nothing has given me greater pleasure than seeing past students coming back to tell us how proud they are of Denbigh’s successes and current students carrying those achievements forward into the future. This determination and drive to achieve very high standards has now become a characteristic of our school. I know that your continued support, combined with the excellent staff and leadership from the senior team and governors, will ensure that this continues to be the hallmark of Denbigh for many years to come.

Thank you again for your commitment to our school and for the support you have given me, personally, over the years. It has been a joy and a privilege to have been the headteacher of such a great school and to have worked with so many wonderful people. I will always remember my years at Denbigh with enormous affection and fondness.

Dame Yasmin Bevan
