Denbigh Wins the AFPE Quality Mark Award

2 December 2013

In September this year the PE department applied for the AFPE Quality Mark Award. The award is given to schools for demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in physical education and sport within schools.

We are therefore very proud to announce that the school’s application for the award was successful and achieved the highest level of recognition.

This is a fantastic award for the school to achieve and recognises the endless amount of work, high levels of commitment and positive efforts that the PE department provide when teaching high quality lessons and extending the learning of all pupils outside of the classroom through extra-curricular and community sport opportunities.

All pupils and staff should be extremely proud to receive this award on behalf of our school.

Mr Smith, Specialist Leader for PE and Sports said:

“I am very proud to work at Denbigh High School, it is a fantastic school, with wonderful facilities and an outstanding PE department. The students here are extremely committed to taking part in sport and understand the importance of regular exercise during PE lessons, extra-curricular activities and community clubs”.

Mr Smith continues;

“As a school, all staff and students embrace PE and sport and this is evident by the schools positive sporting ethos and success.  Here at Denbigh High School PE and Sport is embedded in pupil’s daily routines and the PE department continue to motivate, inspire and have a positive impact on all student lives through the power of Sport”.
