Denbigh working in partnership to grow future leaders

25 February 2011

Denbigh high school has become a hub for a group of schools known as the Chiltern cluster which is launching the Middle Leadership Development Programme or MLDP. The MLDP is an intensive course developed by the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children's Services. The course aims to support middle leaders in schools to become highly effective school leaders who can use their skills to make a positive difference to children's life chances.

Ten participants from three different schools started the one-year programme on Wednesday 15th December. Their sharp focus over the next year will be to look at ways of improving the quality of teaching, learning and student well-being in the areas that they lead and to develop strategies to sustain quality at a very high level.

The course is being delivered by two of the school's assistant headteachers, Mrs Burrows and Mr Gill. Mrs Burrows commented that she is very much looking forward to working with teachers from different schools, The more we can work across schools, she said, the more we can learn from each other and share excellent practice across the wider education system.
