Denbigh students were chosen by the Royal National Theatre to perform 'The Book of Everything' at the Royal & Derngate Theatre, Northampton, on Friday 16th May 2008 as part of the NT Connections Festival.
The Denbigh students, who were selected from many schools, sixths forms and colleges in the region, had previously performed the play, written by Peter Tabern, on the 17th and 19th March in front of friends and family members at Denbigh High School before performing in front of a paying public at The Royal & Derngate. Associate Directors and Regional Producers from the National Theatre also attended the event.
Drama Teacher Leon Felgate said: Auditioning was tough - we had over 150 students show up and some very talented pupils who impressed us didn't make the cut. The standard was very high. I was constantly impressed by the levels of commitment from everyone.
It was a great honour to be invited to perform and an incredible opportunity for all cast members concerned to show off their talents in a real live theatre!
We have also used this opportunity for GCSE Drama pupils to watch the show and write a review for their coursework. The next challenge is to produce a show even better than this one!
