Denbigh High School has been shortlisted for the prestigious Secondary School of the Year' award in the Times Educational Supplement's Schools Awards 2009.
These are the first ever TES Schools Awards and the guiding principals of the awards are that schools work as communities, dependent upon the close and integrated functioning of all staff.
The awards recognise that everyone contributes collectively to the overall success of a school from the senior management team to the catering staff and aim to recognise, celebrate and reward the team effort and outstanding contribution that these teams make to primary and secondary education.
The awards are open to the 25,000 maintained primary, secondary and special schools; and the 3,000-plus independent primary and secondary schools across England and Wales who are responsible for the education and wellbeing of almost 9 million children and young people.
There are 16 separate awards categories that reflect the many different roles of a school.
Denbigh is one of only six schools to be shortlisted within the 'Secondary School of the Year' category and we are also the only school from Herts, Beds or Bucks to be shortlisted within this category.
The winners will be announced Oscar style' at an awards ceremony, which will take place over lunch on Thursday 9th June at the Park Lane Hilton in London with Rory Bremner presenting.
