Dame Yasmin chosen for Singapore exchange programme

15 December 2008
Denbigh High School's Executive Principal,
Dame Yasmin Bevan and nine other headteachers from across the country have spent a week based at the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) in Nottingham working with headteachers and senior education officials from Singapore.
This is the first part of an exchange programme that was developed collaboratively between the NCSL and the National Institute of Education in Singapore (NIE).
The programme is supported by the DCSF and their counterparts in Singapore and will look at what each education system can learn from the other.
The UK visit to Singapore will take place between the 10th and 17th of January 2009.
The structure of both visits include high quality, thought provoking workshops on world class schools, opportunities to visit a range of different educational contexts both in England and in Singapore and participation in facilitated mixed group discussions.
Singapore consistently outperforms all other countries in international comparisons and the report that will be written following the visit will go to the Secretary of State for Education.
The UK headteachers are all National Leaders of Education, people who are appointed by NCSL to support system improvement and advise on educational policy.
