World Book Day
Students were buzzing with excitement over the start of World Book Week at Denbigh at the beginning of March. A selection of Year 7 and Year 9 students performed a short play promoting Young Adult Literature in assemblies throughout the week.
“My experience preparing for the world assembly was one to remember. We all worked incredibly hard in order to pull this piece together to perform for the school. Work was put in by the English department to write the amazing script, and work with the students. All together we managed to tell a story through acting about the wonderful world of reading. Overall it was a fun and challenging experience to never forget.” Rania Afilal | 92
“Alongside the English and Drama departments it was an absolute joy preparing for the World Book Day assembly. We received massive support from our teachers as they put in loads of hard work writing the script and leading our rehearsals. Me and my peers also put in our time, learning the script and being able to put on an amazing performance. All together it was a great experience and opportunity which will not be forgotten.” Assia Fazal | 93
“It was a pleasure to be actively involved in directing the Year 9 students in their World Book Day assembly. They had to learn a lively, engaging script written in rhyming couplets. No mean feat. There was a strong sense of commitment from all students involved. It was terrific watching their development of characters grow as they performed for each year group assembly.
Very well done to all those involved.” Mrs Ribekow-Evans
