U15 Bedfordshire FA Attitude Counts Cup
On Wednesday the 21st of November the first round of the U15 Bedfordshire FA Attitude Counts Cup commenced, taking place at the Bedfordshire FA headquarters in Dunstable.
Twelve Denbigh students from Years 9, 10, and 11 participated on what was a bitterly cold Wednesday morning. Schools from around the county took part, including some from within the Chiltern Learning Trust, and teams were formed by merging students from each school. The unique thing about the competition is that points were not only awarded for a win or draw but also players could earn ‘Attitude Counts Points’ awarded for displaying qualities like sportsmanship and leadership, with the aim of enhancing social skills.
Students that represented Denbigh were as follows: Ali Kazmi, Uzair Khan, Musaab Adrees, Nayim Rafi, Mohammed Zohaib, Aseer Younis Ahyaz, Tahmid Ali, Mussaddiq Ur Rahman, Ibra Hussain, Muhaysin Ahmed, Zayan Ahmed, and Awais Hussain. It must be said that all of the students conducted themselves brilliantly throughout by being real team players.
Several ten-minute games were played throughout the day with plenty of performances on the field, with some good goalkeeping shown from Ibra and Musaab as well as industrious performances from Aseer and Tahmid to mention but a few. Towards the end of the day, there was time for some inter-school competition which did not count towards the competition but was a bit of friendly competition. This saw Denbigh come up against Challney Boys in what was somewhat of a ‘CLT derby’, despite facing a strong side Denbigh were resolute and towards the end of the game, Zayan Ahmed netted the winner from close range to the delight of his teammates as he ran towards the sideline with sheer joy.
The day proved to be very successful for all involved so a big well done! The next round will take place after the Christmas holidays.
