Students Learn Key Skills in Catering at Sopwell House
Two very fortunate year 10 students, Sara Mirza 108 and Imaan Arif 101, spent a day in the kitchens at the luxury country house hotel and spa, Sopwell House, St Albans. They were there to have a 'taster' of catering and hospitality apprenticeships organised by BBC Radio 5Live. Candice Brown, winner of The Great British Bake Off 2016, interviewed both girls on their perceptions of working in the industry and how they felt about apprenticeships. Dressed in chef's whites, both students received rave reviews on their natural talents in the kitchen; Sara was preparing a main course and learning how to expertly tie a joint of beef, and Imaan helped make some elegant desserts.
The interviews and comments from the day will be broadcast on Radio5Live very soon.
