Race for the Line Reach Regional Finals
After an exciting race day at Denbigh during British Science Week, one of the teams were successful in qualifying for the Race for the Line Regional Finals. The team of Saima Siddeka 75, Ariyan Zannat Chowdhury 78, Zara Syed 72 and Saied Uzzaman 76 also known as the Formula 1 Racers attended the regional finals at the Imperial War museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire and were supervised by Mr Rashid and Miss Smith. Students had to use the knowledge and the skills that they had acquired from designing their first rocket car to build a rocket car for the regional finals in just one hour!
The students represented Denbigh exceptionally and demonstrated both resilience and teamwork throughout the day. In the afternoon, with the help of the RAF the cars were raced. Unfortunately, Team Formula 1 racers did not advance to the National finals but did come well within the top 10 schools that were competing.
“Although we did not win, we really enjoyed taking part in Race for the Line this year. Not only did we learn about the physics behind designing a rocket car but this project gave us the opportunity to develop our communication skills. We would now feel more confident working with other Year 7’s on similar group projects.”
Formula 1 Racers
A big well done to Formula 1 Racers for advancing to the Regional Finals and to all the Year 7’s that were involved in the Race for the Line project this year.
