Berkhamsted School Sixth Form Scholars

Following the successful transition of selected Denbigh students to Berkhamsted Sixth Form last year, we are delighted to announce the school has once again offered us scholarship places.

Berkhamsted is a prestigious independent school who have partnered with Denbigh to offer a few Sixth Form places to our Year 11 students.  These students are selected after a lengthy application process, and without question, need to show a high degree of academic ability as well as enthusiasm.

Our careers coordinator, Mrs Armstrong said, “This is an amazing opportunity for our most able students. Due to the generosity of Berkhamsted and their foresight into discovering talent outside their usual reach, our students can push beyond their ambitions and realise dream careers.”

Ex-Denbigh students who gained places on this programme last year visited Denbigh to support our students going through this competitive process. Hopeful scholars then travelled with Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Corder and Mrs Armstrong to the historic grounds of Berkhamsted School for their interview.  Starting in the beautiful hall which dates back to 1544, students were assessed during group tasks as well individual ones.  Chatting with those Denbigh leavers again over lunch and discussing their experiences, finished the day perfectly.

After a nervous few days, students were given news of the assessment outcome.  The successful students who have a conditional place at Berkhamsted Sixth Form  are:Farhaan Ahmed 113, Zakaria Najjar 111, Mukith Miah 113 and Asima Khanom 112.

Asima says: “I feel honoured to have been given a place. Although this may push me outside my comfort zone, I believe I will fulfill my academic potential.”

Mrs Corder said, “I am extremely proud of the successful students who have gained places at Berkhamsted.  They have worked tirelessly to achieve academic merit during their time at Denbigh and I am positive they will continue to flourish in a renowned academic setting such as Berkhamsted.  Very well deserved!”
